WebStandard Scores were used for statistical analysis in this study. To assess whether the experimental students improved more than the comparison students on the CTBS,t tests were run on the change scores. The t test is a statistical procedure for evaluating whether the difference between the means of two samples (such as the experimental group and Webhigh scores on both the CTBS and the MAT were more likely to be found among students who exhibited the superficial approach to learning. Similar findings have emerged from studies of middle school students (also using the CTBS) and high school students (using the other SAT, the college-admission exam).
